Specifiying your cabinetry requirements

Cabcode generates CNC drilling files for cut to size panels so that you can take advantage of the speed and accuracy of CNC machines.

We offer a number of options to specify the CNC drilling you need. This ranges from just generating the drilling for BLUM hinges for a door to generating drilling for a whole kitchen design. The options are:

  • Adhoc drilling where you specify the drilling for a single panel
  • Cabinet templates that take overall height, width and depth parameters and then generates the drilling for a complete set of panels
  • DXF import reads your Autocad files and generates CNC drilling files

The three options are detailed and compared below.

Adhoc drilling

A simple way to add CNC drilling to your cut and edge job. Specify the panel length and width and then choose the drilling operations to apply to it:

  • Blum hinges
  • Adjustable shelves (library shelf stud drilling)
  • Dowels in the face and edge of the panel Using adhoc drilling you could specify the drilling for a whole cabinet. However it is up to you to ensure that for example dowels to connect a side panel to a top panel are in the correct location

Cabinet templates

We offer a large number of cabinet templates including drawer packs and the CNC drilling is generated parametrically. Specify the height, width, depth and material thickness and the panel sizes and CNC drilling is generated automatically.

The advantage of the cabinet templates over adhoc drilling is that the templates ensure the panels will fit together and you get 3D renders to show this so the amount of work saving and accuracy is vastly increased.

DXF

If your workflow is based on Autocad or similar you may be able to generate DXF files. The Cabcode DXF option can import your DXF files and generate individual drilling files. You get dimensioned drawings for each panel so you can check what exactly will be drilled but no checking is done on the DXF file so if the drilling is wrong in the DXF (e.g. a dowel is mis-positioned) then it will be wrong in the file we generate too.
