Cabinet Fittings
Cabcode generates CNC drilling patterns for a range of industry-standard cabinet fittings. This guide explains the fittings we support and how to specify them in your designs.
Hinges
Cabinet door hinges are one of the most common fittings. Cabcode supports Blum clip-top hinges which are widely used in kitchen and furniture manufacturing.
Blum Clip-Top Hinges
Blum hinges consist of two parts:
- Hinge cup - drilled into the door panel (35mm diameter bore)
- Mounting plate - attached to the side panel
The drilling pattern varies based on:
- Door overlay (full overlay, half overlay, or inset)
- Hinge plate type (0mm, cruciform, or cam adjustable)
Cabcode automatically generates the correct drilling for both the door and side panels when you select a cabinet template with doors.
Drawer Runners
Drawer runners determine how smoothly drawers open and close. Cabcode supports several Blum drawer systems.
Blum Tandem
Blum Tandem runners are concealed undermount runners that provide full extension and soft-close functionality. The drilling includes:
- Side panel drilling for the runner brackets
- Rear panel drilling for the rear bracket
Blum Legrabox
Legrabox is Blum's premium drawer system with metal drawer sides. Cabcode generates drilling for:
- Side panel mounting points
- Rear stabilisation brackets
Blum Standard Runners
For budget-conscious projects, standard roller runners can be specified with appropriate side panel drilling.
Panel Connectors
Panel connectors join cabinet panels together. Cabcode supports several connector types that can be selected in your job settings.
Dowels
Traditional wooden dowels provide a strong glued joint. Cabcode generates:
- 8mm diameter holes
- Matching drilling on both panels being joined
Lamello Clamex
Clamex connectors allow tool-free assembly and disassembly. The drilling pattern includes:
- Slot routing for the Clamex body
- Corresponding drilling on the mating panel
Rafix
Rafix connectors are cam-lock fittings that provide a strong, invisible connection. Drilling includes:
- 20mm cam housing bore
- Bolt hole on the mating panel
Cabineo
Cabineo is a modern connector system that combines the benefits of dowels and cam fittings. Cabcode generates the specific drilling pattern required for Cabineo installation.
Shelf Supports
Adjustable shelving uses shelf support pins that fit into a series of holes drilled into the side panels.
5mm Shelf Pin Holes
The standard pattern is a vertical row of 5mm holes spaced 32mm apart (following the 32mm system). This allows shelves to be repositioned at any height.
Cabcode automatically generates shelf pin drilling based on the cabinet height and your specified shelf positions.
Specifying Fittings
When designing cabinets in Cabcode, fittings can be specified at two levels:
- Job Settings - Set default fittings for all cabinets in the order
- Cabinet Level - Override fittings for individual cabinets
To change the default connector type, go to Job Settings and select your preferred option for:
- Hinge type
- Hinge plate
- Panel connector (Rafix, Clamex, Cabineo, or dowels)
